As a Science Teacher in training at the MICO University College, I’m well aware of the need to live in an environment that encourages you to do your best, even on a budget. So whether it’s cooking Pepper Steak and Frankfurters instead of Chicken and using Bag Juice as a sweetener in Drinks (Deer, 2015), I try to stay healthy and maintain a great frame of mind.
Part of that welcoming spirit is having a great Doormat that announces to the world what kinda guy I am. Being as I’m the alert sort of person, the Doormat at my Apartment No. 23 has the words “Coffee” written all over it and drawings of Coffee mugs and coffee beans, again all in an effort to stay alert.
But if you’re a gamer, even part-time player of Tetris like me on my Dell Latitude D520 Laptop and only when you’re back in your Home Parish, which for me is Clarendon (Deer, 2014), then you’ll love what these Doormats by ThinkGeek (Burton, 2015) say about you as a person.
US$19.99 16-Bit Game Controller Doormat – for the True Nintendo and Mario Fan
The first one is a US$19.99 16-Bit Game Controller Doormat from ThinkGeek that goes well with your Super NES Gaming System or your recently acquired Xbox One. Made of 100% polyester, it’s got dimensions of 13.75” long and 30” wide with a nice thick black edge binding so it doesn’t get frayed so easily. It’s also anti-skid, so have no fear about slipping when you place this on your solid hardwood or tile floors.
Be careful with this thing though when washing, as it only takes mild detergent, no bleach or dry cleaning and no direct sunlight when drying, otherwise the colour will fade. Also, if you still cook fire over a wooden fireplace, this 16-Bit Game Controller Doormat is a definite fire hazard. Not to mention it can’t take a vacuum cleaner that puts out more than 2300W, as that’ll probably make it start melting.
US$19.99 Critical Hit D20 Doormat – Dungeons and Dragons player Lucky Doormat
The other is for those D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) types who love a little luck when rolling that D20 Dice. This US$19.99 Critical Hit D20 Doormat from ThinkGeek will match your Dungeons and dragons Campaigns to a “T”. Also made of 100% polyester, it’s a little bigger than the 16-Bit Game Controller Doormat with dimensions of 20.25” from point-to-point and 19” when measured across the flats.
Still, if you like a unique Doormat for your Chicken Coop of an Apartment in Kingston, then US$19.99 plus shipping and handling (Deer, 2013) shouldn’t be too much trouble to be a true Nintendo and Dungeons and Dragons Fan, even if gaming is fringe in Jamaica.
