How Jamaicans can make Money from Referral Websites

There are many ways, both legal (Deer, 2013, September 12) and illegal (Deer, 2013, August 25) that Jamaicans can use to make money online.

MICO Wars - How Jamaicans can make money from Referral Websites - 06-06-2015 LHDEER

So far, I’ve mainly focused on Writing (Deer, 2013, July 4) as well as Writing Competitions such as the Lignum Vitae Writing Competition (Deer, 2015, February 27) as a source of income online. Remember always when writing, always copyright your work (Deer, 2015, March 12) so as to prevent unscrupulous persons copying and benefitting from your hard-fought Research.

The legal methods can all be split into two (2) general methods:

  • Working online for some else via a website
  • E-Commerce i.e. Setting up your own website to make money via selling items

Good to note that the last option can also be interpreted as selling items via another company’s website (Deer, 2014, May 7), such as E-Bay. You can also set up a website to sell stock photographs (Deer, 2013, October 8) or even low-quality photos taken using your smartphone (Deer, 2013, May 6), as many people will pay top-dollar for a good set of certain types of stock photos from budding photo-journalists!

How to Jamaicans can receive money online – Friends and Relatives abroad are assets

But no matter what method you use, you’ll need to be able to process Credit Card payments (Deer, 2013, September 16), as this is the way financial transaction are made online.

Unlike sending Remittances, Americans and Europeans paying for your work online or buying items from your webpage will not stop to send you money via Moneygram or Western Union.

So you need to have the following things in order to work online:

  1. PayPal
  2. Payoneer or other US VISA Debit Card
  3. VISA Prepaid Debit Card, be it Scotia VISA Debit Cardor CIBC VISA Debit Card.
  4. VPN (Virtual Private Network) or Proxy
  5. US Address from a Relative or Friend

You then set up a verified PayPal Account first (Deer, 2013, December 23), which is when you use your Scotia VISA Debit Card or CIBC VISA Debit Card to verify your account.

You can also apply for your Payoneer Card, which is a Prepaid Mastercard Debit Card (Deer, 2013, December 23) that will be processed and sent to you four (4) months after applying online. This Payoneer Card will allow you to withdraw money you’ve made working online instead of having to wait three (3) weeks for a PayPal Check to clear.

There are other Prepaid Mastercard Debit Cards (Deer, 2015 May 14) which are the same thing as a Payoneer Card bit with more reasonable terms of ownership. These are:

Whichever of the four (4) Prepaid Mastercard Debit Cards you choose, the requirements are the same:

  • 18 years and older
  • Passport
  • National ID Card/Driving License
  • Utility bills (if you have none of the above)

They also take four (4) months to be processed and sent to Jamaica. Meanwhile you can set up your VPN (Virtual Private Network) or Proxy (Deer, 2014, September 20) to allow you to work online as if you are an Americans, as it hides your true location via routing your Internet traffic through a Proxy Server (in the case of a Proxy) or ISP (in the case of a VPN).

But the most important bit is having a US Address from a Relative or Friend, who you can easily call for free (Deer, 2015, January 18) using MagicApp or Call+ Apps. They can not only help you to receive items you purchase online and send them down to you, but you can also get them to apply for American Cards such as a Paypal Prepaid Debit Card (Deer, 2015 May 14), allowing you to deposit and withdraw cash from your Paypal Account.

So once you have all this in place, you’re all set to start working on Referral Websites.

Making money from Referral Websites – How to use Bit.ly to make Referral Link URL’s more Newspaper-friendly

Referral websites are basically weblinks that are triggered to display advertising (Quick Money Blogs, 2013) once persons online click on them. They also route the customer to the Referral Website Server and offer them membership to become referrers themselves, resulting in you the original referrer making more money.

As they recruit more people, your network expands and so does the amount of money that you make as more persons may seek your assistance in setting up a Referral Link Account, for which you may charge a Referral Fee just to meet with them an show them the ropes.

These are best referral Networks that I’ve used and you can join as listed below:

All are free to join and do not require that you have a website, albeit it does help in the case of Adf.ly and a few others. However, whether or not you have a website, the main thing you need is traffic, on average ten thousand (10000) hits per day. So how do you achieve such high traffic levels?

Referral Strategy – Post in Newspapers, Social Media and get a Fiverr

You can achieve this by posting your referral link on Social Media websites such as Facebook and Twitter. However, this is not as easy as it sounds!

Based on recent statistics from analyst Global Web Index, Facebook fans mostly like a post (Deer, 2015, May 23) instead of clicking on links. This as many persons surf the web via their smartphone, according to Statistics by Harvard-based Pew Research (Deer, 2015, April 8), so they’re not too eager to blow their Data plan on a website that may possibly have video or large graphic images.

Therefore, the best place to post them is in the Newspaper, both local as well as International, again with help from your Relative or Friend living who has a US Address. Once you get your Referral Link URL (Universal Resource Locator) after joining the above websites, you can then join a URL Shortening website such as bit.ly.

Bit.ly will allow you to shorten your Referral Link URL to a smaller size and also allow you to customize it so that it has a more user-friendly name instead of being a string of confusing letters and numbers.

You then place an advertisement in the Local Classified section of your Newspaper in Jamaica with the best circulation, preferably the Jamaica Sunday Gleaner. Meanwhile your Relative or Friend living in the US Address can then place the same advertisement in their Sunday Newspaper that has the best circulation.

This as on Sunday, most people are relaxing at home and are also casually searching for work in the Classified Section of the Sunday Newspaper to start job hunting on the coming Monday.

You can also do a flyer run and post your Bit.ly link on a Flyer all over a University Campus or at places with high Traffic volume:

  • Fast Food Restaurants
  • Bathrooms
  • Airports
  • Notice Boards
  • ATM Machines

The true advantage of using Bit.ly URL shortener is not just the fact that it makes this cumbersome Referral Link URL more user-friendly and easier to fit into your ads in the Classifieds, but that is also allows you to track how many people are clicking and from where, as Bit.ly has built-in metrics.

You can also generate traffic by paying for posts via buying traffic from freelancing websites such as Fiverr, which has members who specialize in driving traffic to weblinks and websites.

So that’s it on how to make money via Referral Link Websites; you drive traffic to the bit.ly version of the link or to the Website with the link on it via:

  1. Social Media
  2. Newspapers
  3. Targeted Flyer Posting
  4. Purchasing Traffic from Fiverr

Remember sharing is caring so share this website to as many people as you can.

Thanks!
