US$379.99 Epson EcoTank Wireless Printer comes with 2-years of Printer Ink

I’m not particularly fond of printers, albeit I do have a soft spot for the US$150 Brother HL-L2360DW (Deer, 2015, January 4), simply because it works as advertized and is a very cost-effective Printer to have in your small business.

But every once in awhile, one comes along that borders on a revolution!

Choosing between cheaper printers with tri-color printer cartridges or larger printers with more expensive printer cartridges is a game I stopped playing a long time.

Epson, however, is making it more compelling to own one of their printers.

They’ve come up with an innovation that has long existed in the Laser Printing world: Bulk colour Cartridges for their new line (Yu, 2015) of five (5) EcoTank printers:

So aside from the price and the super huge tank of ink being sold at a wholesale price, what else makes the Epson EcoTank printers so special?

Epson EcoTank Printers – 2 Years of Printing Capacity

Granted, these printers are super-expensive as the prices above show. They are all Wireless Printers, so you can send you prints directly via Wi-Fi. You can also print using the Epson iPrint app on your Apple IPhone or Google Android Smartphone.

But with huge refillable reservoir on the side that last two (2) years in-between refills, the printing numbers are impressive printing numbers:

  • 20 standard ink cartridge sets
  • 2 Years worth of Colour Ink (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black)

The Capacity varies from printer to printer as can be seen in the table below:

  • ET-2500 – 4000 black/6500 color pages
  • ET-2550 – 4000 black/6500 color pages
  • ET-4500 – 4000 black/6500 color pages
  • ET-4550 – 11,000 black/8500 color pages
  • WF-R4640 – 20,000 black/20,000 color pages

All of these printer are wireless Printers and all have fairly large paper tray capacities, with the lowest being 150 sheets of paper.

Refilling is simple as snapping off the covers at the side and squirting in the ink from the refill bottles.

And it cheap too:

  • US$13 for each color bottle
  • US$52 for a set of all four

So not only is this a DIY Printer in terms of refilling the cartridges, but it switches up the action from buying replacement Cartridges more frequently to just buying the ink from Epson very two (2) years.

Epson EcoTank Wireless Printer Deal – Beats HP Instant Ink without a subscription for Ink Delivery

The fact that they’re all Wireless Printers makes this offer even more inviting. I suspect though, the ink used in the Epson EcoTank series of printers probably works only with their printers, forcing you to have to purchase their ink.

Still, at US$13 for each color bottle, or US$52 for a set of all four (4), this is significantly less than refilling an inkjet printer here in Jamaica.

The only competing offer is HP Instant Ink (Trenholm, 2014), which requires you to buy a subscription of ink based on your estimate as to how much ink you use per month.

Once you sign up and get an enrollment, HP sends you the packs of ink each month, even pre-empting you by sending you ink before you actually run out of ink. HP claims a 70% savings on ink, albeit many may not like the idea of paying a subscription.

Epson EcoTank Line of printers is a more competitive offer, as you basically get two (2) years worth of printing with these high quality Wireless Printers.  This is something I can live with, personally, as I do an awful lot of printing.

Albeit cheaper printing option exist, like the US$89 Canon Pixma MG5620 (Deer, 2015, April 29), which albeit cheaper, is still gouging you for Tri-Colour Cartridges.

So my fellow Jamaicans, if you’re a MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise) and you frequently purchase items online (Deer, 2013, September 15) with your Scotia VISA Debit or CIBC VISA Debt Card (Deer, 2012, February 13), then now is the time to upgrade to a Wireless Printer that gives you 2 years of Printer Ink.
