Miami-based phone-maker Blu Products, whose dual-SIM smartphones are growing in popularity in Jamaica, has decided to give us two phablet sized reason to love them even more.
On Thursday October 14th 2015, Blu Products announced two new phablet sized smartphones (Webster, 2015, October 15) , the Studio Energy 2 and Energy X on their Website. These smartphones are not only special because of their dual-SIM nature, but because of a recent growing trend with smartphones; larger batteries.
Blu Products US$179 Blu Studio Energy 2 and US$109 Blu Energy X have some interesting specs for their budget price.
The Blu Studio Energy 2 has dimensions of 144 x 71.2 x 10.1 mm (5.67 x 2.80 x 0.40 in) and a Weight of 176 g (6.21 oz). It’s packing a Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A53 processor on a Mediatek MT6735 with graphics support provided by the Mali-T720 GPU.
Google Android 5.0 Lollipop is the OS that floats on 1.5GB of RAM has an ample storage space of 16GB with a microSD card capable of supporting up to 64GB.
The Studio Energy 2 has an aluminum body that houses a 5″ 1,280×720-pixel resolution display and has an 8 megapixel rear facing camera capable of recording 1,080p video and a selfie-ready 5 megapixel front facing camera.
The Blu Energy X is the smaller of the two Blu smartphones with dimensions of 142 x 70 x 8.9 mm (5.59 x 2.76 x 0.35 in) and a weight of 154 g (5.43 oz).
It has a Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 processor supported by a Mali-400 and runs Google Android 5.1 Lollipop. However, it has half the storage specs of the Studio Energy 2 with a 1GB RAM and 8GB Internal Memory with a microSD slot that supports up to 64GB.
But the main claim to fame of these smartphones is their extraordinary battery life. Blu Products Blu Studio Energy 2 and Blu Energy X have 5,000mAh and 4,000mAh batteries, respectively. This means at those sized, they are effectively can act as Portable battery chargers (Deer, 2014, July 9) for other devices including other smartphones.
That enough juices to run these smartphoens for almost thirty (30) days on standby or three (3) solid days of heavy usage without recharging yet recharges quite quickly at 2A speed!
Add to this interesting fact that both of these smartphoens are dual-SIM (Subscriber Identification modules) and are 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) capable and you basically have the best of both worlds in two (2) smartphone options that complement each other quite nicely.
It would be nice if more smartphones were made like the US$179 Studio Energy 2 and US$109 Energy X as at those prices on Amazon, they are value for money.
