How Working Enigma’s Wah Dat Trivia Game is a Jamaican Stripe Tease

Ever feel the urge to play a Game of Trivia about Jamaica to pass the time while travelling on a bus on the way to Marking Stone Beach (Deer, 2016, February 3) in Annotto Bay, St Mary?

Then I’d recommend this great game made by Jamaican Developer Working Enigma called Wah Dat which was launched on the Google Play Store on Monday April 25th 2016.

You may not realize it, but these guys, whom I’d previously mentioned in another article about Developers in Jamaica (Deer, 2014, August 12) are the ones behind the runaway hit Pan Chicken Dash that was launched back in June 2015. They seem to have faltered a bit with their follow up Grape Escape, which only got downloaded between 50 to 100 times since launch in January 2015.

However, I’ve been testing out Wah Dat and I’ll be the first to tell you, they seem to be onto something here. Already, they’re racked up between 400 to 500 installs and only three (3) days have passed since launch! Also, my peeps in Swallowfield love the game.

So the sky’s the limit for their latest game Wah Dat. So what is Wah Dat?

How to play Wah Dat – Add Jamaican Flavour to Spin the Bottle

The aim of the game, as the patios title suggests is to try to guess the words on the screen within the time allotted. Simply run the App on your tablet or smartphone. Then hand it to your friend to hold above their head. You then ask the questions based on what you see appear on the screen.

If your friend gets it right, they tilt the tablet or smartphone down to mark it as correct. They can pass, however, by tilting the tablet up, fielding another question or passing it on to someone else to take a shot.

However, these aren’t your ordinary set of words; these are mostly Jamaican phrases that put you knowledge of Jamaican and Caribbean culture to the test. In fact, if you ever wanted to prove to your friend that you’re from the Caribbean or you really vacationed in Jamaica with real Jamaicans, this App is the Jamaican Lie detector to suss out those Jamaican wannabees who don’t know Vybz Kartel different from La Lewis.

Categories such as Reggae, Dancehall and even patios words will have you realizing that maybe, maybe you’re not as Jamaicans as you thought. The game get regular updates from the Working Enigma Team with the most recent categories being added being Sports, Places and Famous Jamaican People with more subtitles.

The music is also great and allows you to put on your headphones and trip thorough the Reggae and Dancehall music as your burn time on your commute with you friend or your annoying little siblings in the back of the car.

Based on the word on the street with my peeps in my community in the Hidden Village of Swallowfield, the Jamaican trivia game Wah Dat is an App that simple to use and really makes games like Spin the Bottle or even a modified version of Truth or Dare more Jamaican.

Working Enigma seems to have re-discovered the mojo that they had that lifted Working Enigma from obscurity when the Pan Chicken Dash with the crazy faces was a hit with casual smart phone toting types.

Expect to see Wah Dat becoming a party favourite this Summer of 2016 when the House Party Season kicks off.
