Pac-Man 256 (Deer, 2015, September 29), the endless runner-styled action game, is coming exclusively via digital channels to Xbox Live, the PlayStation Network, PC’s and Steam (Cowan, 2016, May 23) on Tuesday June 21st, 2016.
Developer Hipster Whale was inspired to make the Pac-Man 256 for iOS and Android by a glitch (Deer, 2015, September 29) present in the original Pac-Man arcade game from 1980.
This latest iteration of Pac-Man 256 will include a four (4) person multiplayer mode to tackle Pac-Man‘s infamous kill screen by gobbling up pellets and killing ghosts, scoring and running from the apocalyptic, glitch filled doom chasing right behind them.
Check out the trailer for Pac-Man 256!
The trailer reveals that Pac Man 256b will have:
- Multiple maze layouts and tile sets
- Unlockable skins
The skins, inspired by series entries like Pac-Mania and Pac-Man Championship Edition, add a nostalgic air to the console versions of the game. Points earned by all four (4) players feed into a shared score during each game, making it necessary to work as a team to achieve point-boosting combos and chains.
Developer Hipster Whale had previously released Crossy Road, another hit, addictive smartphone-optimized control game that awarded skilled players with bonus unlockables over the course of gameplay.
Hopefully the Pac Man 256 game on Xbox Live, the PlayStation Network, PC’s and Steam with its additional set of challenges can live up the hype that the Mobile Game has generated.
