US$99 ZTE Zmax Pro on MetroPCS is a Christmas 2016 Stocking Stuffer

On July 18th 2016, ZTE held a special event to introduce yet another member of the Zmax line called the Zmax Pro. The Zmax Pro (Vlad, 2016, July 18) is coming on the US by MetroPCS and the successor to the Zmax 2 for 2015.

On Monday August 1st 2016, ZTE aims to launch the US$99 Zmax Pro on MetroPCS with no contract to compete again the Samsung Galaxy J7 and the LG Stylo 2. This is by having high-end specs at a lower price and at US$99, it’s truly a value buy, especially as you can get a leather case if you pre-register before Sunday July 31st 2016!

The 6″ 1080p touchscreen Zmax Pro runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow that runs on some serious gear. It runs on a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 617 with a 1.5 GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU and an Adreno 405 GPU. This chipset is supported by 2GB of RAM and 32GB External Storage.

The camera setup is stellar as it’s packing a 13 Megapixel main camera with phase detect autofocus and LED flash and a 5 Megapixel selfie camera that out-selfie the competition. A fingerprint scanner on the back makes sure those pictures stay secure.

The Zmax Pro, oddly enough, still has a 3.5 mm headset jack and a USB Type-C port, which is odd, as one would have thought they’d have done away with the obsolete port and forced users to use either Bluetooth or USB Type-C port headphones, the latest trend in the smartphone world.

So for US$99, Zmax Pro is a super deal with good reviews (Schoon, 2016 July 20) with its fairly high-end specs typically found on Samsung and LG smartphones. Albeit MetroPCS is a CDMA only cellular Network, they’re also a part of T-Mobile Network after the merger (Colon, 2013, June 12) in June 2013 and thus sell GSM and LTE capable smartphones.

At US$99, the price is right for anyone to buy this for relatives in Jamaica and send down in a barrel (Deer, 2015, November 12) this Christmas 2016!
