How to get over a workplace breakup with your Jamaican Lover

So the love of your young life dumped you for a slimmer girl on the Call Center floor? Maybe because she’s doing “special favours” for him that you may not be doing with those shiny new teeth (Deer, 2016, November 21) of hers.

Similarly, if you’re a male, this may also be very hard to deal with, especially if the girl is a hot, sexy, slim and the ideal arm candy. Most males cannot deal with a breakup and never actually get over it, slumping into depression and even resorting to killing themselves according to this DNews Video.

In fact, females are better at dealing with a breakup than males, as they are more social, willing to share their feeling with other females and generally binge on food  and buy themselves stuff to get over their deceitful love that dumped them.

So how do you deal with a breakup, especially if you work in the same place (Deer, 2016, November 26) as your former love toy?

How to get over a Breakup – Delete your boonoonoos from your life and ride that pony

First, let the healing (Kes, 2016, November 25) begin. So put away the large bowl of ice cream, as that won’t help.

You need to get him out of your life, Gaza Slim style, not get fat, adding to your current problems.

So deleting your former beau from your social media pictures, phone contacts as being friends with your ex (Kes, 2016, November 2) just cannot work. Blocking calls (Deer, 2016, October 29) from your former bae will speed up the recovery process. Ditto too any gifts your sweetheart gave you. Keeping them will be like rubbing salt into a wound, making it harder to heal.

mico-wars-how-to-get-over-a-workplace-breakup-with-your-jamaican-lover-27-11-2016-lhdeer

Avoiding contact with your former admirer is great. Not going to places your sweet baboo used to hand out and desist from texting, calling or Whatsapp-ing (is that a word?) as that will make the healing take a lot longer. Unless your beloved has money for you or children that you shared, you should avoid any contact at all, as you need to get over the love drug of your affection.

Spending time to re-evaluate why you broke up is good, as clearly your former suitor was not the one (Deer, 2016, November 27) that would become your future spouse. Meditation is good along with other relaxation techniques. Accentuate the positives and avoid the negatives as you’re a survivor.

Finally, after all throwing out all that stuff and walking around the apartment in yoga pants, it time to get back on that horse and jump back into the Dating (Deer, 2016, March 8) scene again.

Love is about having fun, really; the more you ride that pony, the more you’ll develop immunities against a broken heart and become stronger. So get back out there and get back into the dating scene, as the heartache is only temporary.

Still, if my advice that doesn’t work for you, there’s always an activity that you can get involved in to occupy your time. Helping at a charity or travelling the world are definitely the most sure-fire ways to help you get over your former lover.

How to know if your Jamaican Lover is interested in a long term Relationship

So you’re in a romantic relationship and you want to know if it for real!

Ok, there are some definite signs (Kes, 2016, November 24) that your beloved, whether found through a dating website (Deer, 2016, March 8), at work (Deer, 2016, November 26) or even a married man (Deer, 2016, November 7) is really into you.

mico-wars-how-to-know-if-your-jamaican-lover-is-interested-in-a-long-term-relationship-27-11-2016-lhdeer-2

The first most obvious sign is that it’s love at first sight.

Yours suitor is immediately comfortable sharing deeply personal and secret things with you, a sign of a good developing friendship that is the bedrock (and the bed rockin’, get it?) of a good relationship. Your lover will want to talk to you all the time as the probably think about you all the time, as per Ana Akana.

Your admirer also values your advice and believes they can trust you with his deepest secret.

If your beloved is really into you, they’ll love hearing the sound of your voice and love having one-on-one conversations with you about absolutely nothing in particular. Heck, he’ll even tackle the one question many men fear; what do you notice about me.

If your loved one doesn’t like sharing their secrets and feelings and talking about nothing in particular for hours at a stretch in conversation, then you might want to throw them back in the river of Life and keep on fishin’, as they’re not seriously into you.

mico-wars-how-to-know-if-your-jamaican-lover-is-interested-in-a-long-term-relationship-27-11-2016-lhdeer-1

Another sign is that your main squeeze not only thinks about you all the time, but will check up on you all the time as well, be it via texts or WhatsApp (Deer, 2016, August 24), the latest in Mobile Social Media. Your sweet baboo will sacrifice his own time for you and is never feeding you the line “I am busy with work”, as you admirer always makes time for you.

Your worshipper thinks about you all the time, even in their dreams, as per the Beyonce song.

But the most sure-fire sign that your beau is into you is when they decided to pop the question.

No, no, I don’t mean get married!

Rather, your bonoonooonoos talks about more serious stuff, like wanting to move in with you, buying your groceries and even paying all your bills and paying for your hair and other needs, just to get to talk to you at length.

This is the most sure of all signs that the relationship just got real, as your sweetheart want you, body and soul and is trying everything to be around you all the time, even in your dreams.

Why Office Romance and Office Sex in Jamaica is a Bad Idea

Inevitably, at the workplace, we’ll fall in love with someone. Due to the close proximity of the workplace, we get to know each other to the point that we feel that we can take that relationship to the next level.

But stop!!!

This isn’t a good idea, as personal and professional lives aren’t (Kes, 2016, November 25) supposed to mix, especially in Jamaica. This as the potential blowback from a failed workplace relationship will live with you, especially if you have to see the person every day at work.

why-office-romance-and-office-sex-in-jamaica-is-a-bad-idea-2

Worse if the person is married (Deer, 2016, September 7) and their spouse visits them at work often or even works in the space as you do. So what are the consequences of a workplace romance that are so bad that it must be avoided at all costs?

Problems associated with Office Romance – Dating Websites are the cure

For one, it can potentially ruin your reputation.

This as after the relationship has begun or even if it has ended people in your workplace will make it their business to know your business. If they can know anything about you, they’ll make stuff up. Once that starts to spread, your work life will start to feel the pressure.

why-office-romance-and-office-sex-in-jamaica-is-a-bad-idea-1

This is especially if you relationship is one filled with arguements with your office mate now turned lover. Once it’s know that you a pair, co-operative tasks that place you in the same location will result in problems that may affect the completion of these tasks.

Depending on how good the relationship is, you might either be unable to complete tasks without arguing and spilling your between-the-sheets action into the office space, or you might have problems keeping the PDA (Personal Displays of Affection) to a minimum, possible leading to having sex in the office or the elevator.

This will become fodder for gossip. Here’s a video on that’ll prove helpful, should in case you decide to go that route.

Then the judgement will start. This is especially true if you are a manager or supervisor, as it’ll look as if you are using your position of power to force your lover, who may be your subordinate, to perform sexual favour in exchange for giving them preferential treatment or promotions.

The long term consequences are that an office romance, good or bad, can ruin your reputation. Not only do you become the focus of the water cooler gossip, you productivity level will be affected. As for the subordinate, no-one will be sure you even got promoted because you are a good worker or because you were sleeping with the boss.

why-office-romance-and-office-sex-in-jamaica-is-a-bad-idea-1

This may lead to a potential loss of business clients, if such relationships begin to affect your company overall. So take my advice; just join a dating website (Deer, 2016, March 8) and date people outside of your office circle, as a romantic fling, good or bad, is not worth the trouble.

How to whiten your Teeth using Aluminium and Baking Soda

So you have very yellow teeth.

Chances are it’s possibly due to drinking excessive cups of coffee (Deer, 2016, July 13), which may be great for the libido but bad for your teeth.

how-to-whiten-your-teeth-using-aluminium-and-baking-soda

Before you run out and invest in some Whitening toothpaste, which doesn’t work any different from even homemade toothpaste (Deer, 2013, November 22), try this remedy (Make your life healthier, 2016, January 28) to clean your teeth.

You’ll need:

  • Aluminium foil
  • Salt
  • Distilled Water
  • Toothbrush

The instructions are very simple as well:

  1. Make a thick paste out of the baking soda, salt and distilled water
  2. Apply a layer using a toothbrush to your teeth that are in need of whitening
  3. Cover the Teeth with a layer of aluminium foil molded over the areas where you applied the paste
  4. Leave in place for 1 hour
  5. Remove and brush your teeth with toothpaste as you normally do
  6. Repeat this procedure for twice per week

In less than a week, your teeth will start to sparkle. This as the baking soda reacts with teeth acid, neutralizing it, killing bacteria in the process as the baking soda solution is also alkaline. It’s also the same technique used in Whitening toothpaste.

The difference, however, is the presence of the aluminium foil. Aluminium is a metal that has three (3) electrons in its outer shell which provides excess of electrons from its outer shell. This helps speed the reaction process along, something that toothpaste with baking soda cannot do.

Please note that this doesn’t work on gray teeth but teeth that have become yellow due to coffee stains. Also do not use it for several consecutive days as the excess electrons provided by the aluminium can do serious damage to your teeth enamel!

The dentist just got served by this technique that guarantees whiter teeth in days, saving you money you’d spend to visit the dentist. Sharing is caring so share this secret with a many of your friends as you can

OUR tells JPS Co to do Load Impedance Matching to prevent future Islandwide outage

“The company is also required to clearly enunciate the direct cause of each problem identified and present a solution for each, along with an implementation schedule and costing where applicable,”

OUR Release on the JPS Co Report on their islandwide outage on Saturday August 27th 2016

JPS Co has until Tuesday December 8th 2016 to come up with a solution to their Islandwide power outage (Deer, 2016, September 25) problem that occurred on Saturday August 27th 2016.

mico-wars-our-tells-jps-co-to-do-load-impedance-matching-to-prevent-future-islandwide-outage-19-11-2016-lhdeer-2

So says the OUR (Office of Utilities Regulation) in a release on Wednesday November 16th 2016, who are requesting that the JPS Co do the following (The Jamaica Observer, 2016, November 17) within specified timeframes:

  • Outage managers and supervisors are trained and certified in outage management by industry-recognised institutions
  • Outage managers and supervisors need to know the relationship between system reliability and outage impact on system operations
  • Develop a set of criteria to identify operations critical to system reliability and security
  • Fix communication issues identified back in April 2016
  • Repair equipment defects as a matter of priority
  • Detailed review of generator over-and-under frequency trip settings
  • Implementation of appropriate time delay tripping of generating units

This is really a Band-Aid; JPS Co problems stem mainly from not modernizing their equiptment as they’re only added on communication layers with older equiptment. But even the older equipment isn’t the problem.

Neither is the lack of training of Outage managers and supervisors is one issue. It is true that this is being made worse by JPS Co trained Engineers leaving left Jamaica (The Jamaica Gleaner, 2016, August 29) for greener pastures. This results in a lack of skilled personnel to be promoted to managerial roles as well as being able to handle such emergency situations.

mico-wars-our-tells-jps-co-to-do-load-impedance-matching-to-prevent-future-islandwide-outage-19-11-2016-lhdeer-1

The real problem is JPS Co inability to deal with sudden changes in power demand (Deer, 2016, September 25); sudden drops in power, usually caused by a mass event that causes everyone in Jamaica to turn off their power, such as a natural disaster e.g. an impending hurricane or Earthquake.

This can cause the Generators to go offline as JPS Co Protection system, in protecting Generators from burning out due to a decreased load, will initiate a cascade failure. JPS Co Generators have no problem in meeting excess demand for electricity, as their generators are more than capable or meeting any power demand that the load on the Jamaican Power Grid can throw at them.

Thus the OUR’s recommendation to set a time delay for tripping (running off) of generating units by setting different frequencies is strange. This will actually damage Generators Control equiptment in the long run, increase the amount of system defect that they have to repair.

But the devil, really, is in the details of the OUR Report!

JPS Co Solutions to their Islandwide outage Problem – Storage of excess power and Digital Meters to measure load

In dissecting the OUR Report,  what the OUR is trying to recommend to the JPS Co is the need to practice load impedance matching, a classic concept known to UTECH Power Engineering Students.

This can be achieved by more precisely matching the actual load on their generators by measuring the load directly. By getting more Jamaicans to switch to using Digital Meters, which will allow JPS Co to more precisely monitor (Deer, 2016, August 7) not only electricity usage but also fluctuations in load, this can be achieved.

Still, the best solution is really is to store the excess electricity generated by storing in one form or the other. This means creating an additional standby load, be it a massive bank of Li-Ion or Sulphuric Acid Batteries to store excess power.

Week 4, Prepaid electricity meter
Week 4, Prepaid electricity meter

An even more novel solution would be the use of the excess power to pump water into a huge reservoir on a high elevation, such as on a mountain or even used to convert Sea Water to Hydrogen.

This would convert the kinetic energy of the extra electricity generated during such a drop in load into potential energy that can be exploited in the form of hydroelectric power (Deer, 2014, August 23) or Hydrogen fired Generators (Deer, 2015, December 3) during times of true excess demand.

Additionally, JPS Co move to embrace All-Electric Vehicles from Tesla (Deer, 2016, August 7) and potentially Power Wall Storage. This along with Prepaid Power and easier payments via the use of CONEC Mobile Money (Deer, 2016, July 31) helps to creates more load that can ease the pressure off JPS Co Generators, should this event happen again.

But these are all long-term solution that requires a change in the mindset of Jamaicans as it relates to their usage of electricity……not to mention lots of money. This will help them anticipate another such event in the future, which I predict will happen come Sunday December 25th 2015 and on Sunday January 1st 2017.
