An invitation to students across Jamaican to compete in a Poetry competition!
The Kiwanis Club of Lauderhill in collaboration with the Hon. Peter Gracey and Oliver Samuels with the support of JDTAN present the Peter Gracey “This is Jamaica” Poetry Scholarship.
This scholarship was created for students to explore poetry as an educational building block; To inspire and motivate students to express themselves freely through poetry and to promote literacy.
Peter Gracey “This is Jamaica” Poetry Scholarship – How to Apply
Eligibility: Applicants between the ages of 6 and 18 attending a primary or high school in Jamaica.
Scholarship Amount: US $1000.00 broken up in 3 tiers. First, second and third place. Scholarships will be disbursed to the school.
How to Apply:
- Submit an application
- Recite the poem “This is Jamaica” written by Peter Gracey (below) in 120 seconds or less
- Poem must be video recorded, uploaded and video link emailed to poetryscholarship@jdtan.org.
Only submissions from students who apply will be reviewed. All entries must be received by September 24th 2021
