Why Pac-Man 256 Endless Runner is more addictive than Candy Crush Saga

On Wednesday August 19th 2015, the world of Mobile Gaming as we knew it changed. Sadly, I wasn’t aware of it…..Until now.

On that fateful day, Bandai Namco released Pac-Man 256 Endless Runner (Domanico, 2015, August 24), landed on the Apple iTunes Store and the Google Play Store. More recently, it’s also available on Nvidia’s Android TV (McCauley, 2015, September 4) and makes playing the old 8-bit Video Arcade classic a super zippy stroll down memory lane.

It’s a lot like the Pac Man games I’ve played, mostly the arcade version which is freely available online.

However, it has the elements of endless runner game like Temple Run and Despicable Me: Minion Rush, and features and endless maze that you just run along, gobbling up white pills (of cocaine?) and dodging the ghosts.

Oddly, the ghosts who mysteriously make a police siren sound while chasing you, run the other way when you’ve got the pill-popping powers and you can make a meal of them.

So what’s the game play like in Pac-Man 256 Endless Runner?

While that drama is happening, the world of Pac Man is also being eaten up by the Langoliers or at least the nothingness that’s gobbling up the level as you press ahead. If you get too close, that distortion will eat you up and end your run.

This explains the 256 in the title Pac-Man 256 Endless Runner as it’s a reference to that final level in the Original Pac-Man arcade version (Hayward, 2015, September 21) that I could never beat.

The geniuses at Bandai Namco have flipped this concept of a level on its head and instead, you’re being chased by the alphanumerically-glitched level (Torres, 2015, August 19) all while trying to stay alive, Bee Gee’s Style, by pill poppin’s and Ghost napping.

Your saving grace is to focus on moving forward, eating as many dots in a row as you can and just basically staying ahead of the oncoming onslaught of glitched characters. You can make some serious progress with good planning and though and even better, kill all the ghosts onscreen by just eating 256 white pills (McCauley, 2015, September 4) in a row!

Pill chompin’’ and ghost-nyammin’ is a tough job, but somebody’s gotta do it this Christmas!

This freemium game is intensely addictive and I guarantee is the perfect replacement (Deer, 2014, January 18) for Candy Crush Saga. So expect difficult levels that are near hard to beat and that temptation to draw for your Scotia VISA Debit Card (Deer, 2012, February 13) or CIBC VISA Debit Card to purchase that power-up (Hayward, 2015, September 21) that gives you unlimited credits for US$7.99.

So dear reader, Get Pac-Man 256 Endless Runner on your Apple iPhone, Google Android smartphone or even play it using the Andy App player (Deer, 2014, April 27) or Bluestacks Player (Deer, 2013, May 18) on your Desktop computer!

Hours of endless fun guaranteed as you finally face your Arcade-level foe…..running away endlessly in terror for dear life by killing the undead while high on cocaine-laced pellets!
